HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION OF TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP

Attendance: 38 members and guests
Speaker: Kim Williams— “Pocono Propulsion on the Past”
At 5:30 pm, Kris Avery, president of HATT, welcomed the 38 members and guests to HATT’s October membership meeting. Kris then led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Kris then made a few announcements:
- November’s Meeting: “Pennsylvanians in the 2nd Continental Congress, ”Thursday, November 8, 5:30 p.m. at Clymer Library. Presented by Dr. Brian Alnutt.
- The HATT-sponsored “Home for the Holidays” Christmas concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 1, at 1 p.m. at the Pocono Lake United Methodist Church on Route 940. Tickets are required but free, and the announcement for their availability will be made soon.
- Volunteers were enlisted to distribute next month’s meeting posters throughout the community.
Kris then introduced HATT member Kim Williams for his presentation of “Pocono Propulsion of the Past.” Kim is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, and is an accomplished photographer as well as an enthusiast of trains. His past presentations to HATT have not disappointed.
Kim showed a remarkable collection of all sorts and varieties of wagons, trains, automobiles, trucks, buses, sleds, airplanes and just about anything that has moved people and goods through the years in our region. His slide presentation was truly packed with details of the history of transportation in the Poconos.
Kim answered serval questions about many examples of “propulsion.” Then Kris Avery presented Kim with HATT’s Certificate of Appreciation.
The meeting concluded at 6:40 p.m.
